post AoS 1x20 ideas

In the last few episodes we've seen so many things go down and yet nothing quite like this last episode.  Ward finally managed to get the files off of the hard drive, but with everything Ward says he feels towards Skye, I think he has another agenda besides helping Garrett.  I'm thinking that he's not Hydra and that he's actually helping someone else.  Who do I think that someone else is? HAMMER.  I have theorized for a while now that HAMMER needs to play a bigger role in the fall of SHIELD.  I'm thinking that at some point HAMMER is going to step in too fill the void that SHIELD has left, or at least attempt too.

There are a few hick-ups in my theory, however.  Things like Victoria Hand being killed for one.  She was supposed to be the co-leader of HAMMER, in the books, so I'm hoping that means she's not actually dead and she and Ward played Garrett to get on his good side.

I'm also feeling like Fitz is acting very peculiar.  I'm wondering if perhaps the reason he freaked out so much when he found out that Ward was Hydra was because he is Hydra and he knows that Ward isn't, but there is nothing he can do, to warn Hydra, without compromising his cover.  That's why he specifically asks Simmons to tell him she's not Hydra, because he loves her, and he wants her to stay with him on the team, where his cover is.

We also learned that the G.H. on the container with the "Blue Man" body in it, in the Guest House,  stood for Guest Host.  That was a cool reveal, but not as cool as finding out the Coulson was in charge of the T.A.H.I.T.I. project.  The real question is, can he force himself to remember what he did there?  Perhaps tell us where the Blue Man came from?  Better yet, was he involved in the operations going on in the facility where the strange symbols and writing were on the chalk board.  These are the questions i'd like answers too and I'm hoping they are coming.  

New Characters could open up story lines in AoS 1x18, Providence.

Last weeks episode of Agents of Shield was down right awesome, but now its time to look to the future.  Next weeks episode is set to introduce three characters that have a history in the books that may indicate some future plot lines.  These characters are Marcus Daniels, Agent Eric Koenig, and Major Glenn Talbot.

Ill start with Marcus Daniels.  He was a research assistant to a physicist studying a form of radiation he called Black Star rays.  Daniels was convinced to be a guinea pig and bombarded with the unusual radiation.  As a result he ended up becoming a criminal known as Blackout.  I'm curious to see what they do with him in the show.

The next character is Agent Koenig.  In the books he was a Nazi who decided his leaders were not on the right path and ended up joining the allies.  This storyline may have taken place during the WW2 era, but it could potentially translate into the current AoS story.  So, what I'm thinking is that he was perhaps a Hydra Agent that decided he didn't want to be anymore and started feeding intel about Hydra to SHIELD.  In return SHIELD buried him in a secret underground bunker. Nice.

The other character is Major Talbot.  He did make an appearance in Ang Lee's "Hulk", but it was easily forgettable as was that film….  He also apparently made an appearance in the "Incredible Hulk" video game that came out for SEGA after the film did.  I'm not sure if Marvel is actually using the events of the game in conjuncture with the events of the MCU, but if so, Major Talbot was believed to have been killed by the Hulk.  He was also attempting to form feeling between he and Betty Ross.  If the Talbot in next weeks episode is the same Talbot from the game, that will surely effect the characters motivations.  I'm sure he's still crazy about being nearly killed by the Hulk, and losing Betty Ross's love to Bruce.  Perhaps he's looking for revenge.  If it isn't the same Talbot, or perhaps, the events of the video game just haven't happened yet, there is a lot of room for the character to be developed.  I'm really looking forward to him becoming an decent antagonist, if not in the show, in a future Incredible Hulk film.

I'm very interested to see how all three of these characters will play a roll in the future episodes of the show.  Anyone got any theories they wanna pass my way??

Turn, Turn, Turn review

If you haven't seen Turn, Turn, Turn as of yet there are spoilers here, just so you know…..

So I just finished watching the newest episode of AoS and I have to say I was very impressed.

It was played off very well in the last episode that Victoria Hand was more than likely a member of Hydra.  We learn in this episode, however, that that is not the case.  It's actually Hand who believes that Coulson is in league with Hydra.  That was a pretty interesting twist, I thought.

We also found out that May had been speaking directly to Fury since the teams inception, that she was actually behind the recruiting process for it, and that she knew about TAHITI the whole time.  In light of this new info, Coulson is not happy and made it clear that she is no longer a friend, but, seeing as she is not Hydra, they can still use her as an ally.  Including to try and get back ahold of Fury, who they are told is dead, which we know isn't true from the new Cap film.

When the team decides to ditch the bus, because they know it's going to be raided, they download all of its servers contents onto a hard drive and wipe them clean, so Hydra can't get their hands on it.  A short while later Skye gives the drive to Ward.  That's the moment I knew that he had to be Hydra, for he has all the data that was on the plane.  There were little hints throughout the episode indicating to me that he was Hydra, but it's sad that the news he actually is Hydra came out shortly after he and Skye have a moment and share a kiss, promising drinks in the future.  I'm sure that somewhere along the way he will go back to the team, but him being Hydra is still a huge deal, especially after shooting Hand, who I think is still alive.

Did I mention that Garrett is Hydra!! That was probably the only twist in the entire episode that made me jump out of my chair.  I did not see that coming…. He ended up getting caught, but Ward, being his little protege, killed Garretts guards to set him free.

Another thing I'm unclear on is what was happening with Simmons and Triplett.  I was totally convinced that at least one of them had to be Hydra. So far it has yet to be indicated, but who knows what will happen in the future.

Altogether, I thought the episode was awesome.  I'm looking forward to seeing what will be happening to the team now, with a busted Bus, no backup, and limited resources.  I think the show will help to indicate how extensive SHIELDs losses were after the events of Cap WS.  Hopefully they still have access to normally readily available resources.

I felt that the show did a pretty good job of connecting with the Cap film.  I just wish there would have been more literal connections other than a reference to fury or top brass agents being Hydra.

I'm also still hoping HAMMER will eventually make an appearance now that SHIELD is greatly diminished.

I didn't see any kind of easter eggs in this episode, but I may not have been looking hard enough.  I will just have to wait until it comes out on Hulu and iTunes, so I can watch it again in better detail.

H.A.M.M.E.R. tie-in in AoS

As Cap:Winter Soldier approached I began to think about the connection between Agents of Shield and the film.  My initial theory about what was going to happen in the film was based on Agent Hands involvement in AoS.  In the books she was the second in command of an organization like SHIELD, called HAMMER.  This pointed me in the direction of HAMMER possibly being a player in the Cap film. Much to my chagrin HAMMER was not a part of the film, but I still have hopes for the future as Agent Hand is a big player in the organization.  Another reason I think HAMMER may be on its way to the MCU are two small hints in the show indicating HAMMER's presence.

In the episode "The Hub" there are two missable instances in which HAMMER is indicated.  At 4:15 if you look behind the main cast you can see a screen on the wall.  On that screen you can see references to ARMOR, EuroMIND and, most importantly, HAMMER.  In the same episode at 4:27 as the agents are walking down a flight of stairs you can see a sign telling you what is where.  HAMMER is on the sign, as well as a reference to the "Executive Director, which I'm thinking is more than likely Fury, or possibly the Director of HAMMER, who is unknown at this point.

I have hopes that HAMMER will come into the spotlight eventually.  I'm actually thinking that as SHIELD is going through its Hydra crisis, HAMMER could potentially step up to be the new big bureaucratic organization put in place to protect the Earth.  That is something that happened in the books and it didn't turn out well for super humans.  HAMMER was able to convince the Security Council to pass legislation allowing them to effectively hunt down all super humans.  Not a good day for them.  I'm thinking that would make for a good plot twist in the films and give a good intro for Ultron.  Who knows.  I'm sure I'm way off, but I love speculating.

Hydra craziness in the End of the Beginning

For starters there will more than likely be Spoilers here regarding AoS and Cap:Winter Soldier.

So on the last episode of AoS we had a good number of things happen.  Skye is made an actual SHIELD Agent (finally), Fitz and Simmons are looking to use the labs at the Hub to analyze Skye's blood, May is revealed to have been staying in contact with someone keeping tabs on the team, it seems both Deathlok and the Clairvoyant are getting bold, and the team as a whole is hot on their trail.

To start off Skye is made an official agent just in time to aid the team in locating the clairvoyant.  I found it very convenient that both Victoria Hand and Agent Sitwell had to get off the Bus before the poo hit the fan.  This puts me at about 50/50 thinking Hand is in Hydra.  I wasn't sure about Sitwells involvement until I went and watched Cap: Winter Soldier, in which it is revealed that he is Hydra.  His death was the biggest shocker of the whole movie.  Anywho…. as both Hand and Sitwell are going to be leaving the Bus, Simmons decides to go as well, as she is considered the "resident expert" on the Deathlok program, yet she's really going to use the Hubs labs to analyze Skyes blood.  However, I'm beginning to think there's a chance she's Hydra and just wanting to get off the plane because she knows some nasty stuff is about to go down.  The only real reason I give this theory any credibility is who she is going with…. Agent Triplett.

I have found the Triplett-Simmons relationship very weird from the get go, back in the T.A.H.I.T.I. episode.  While their standing over Skye as she's dying Triplett mentions how its hard losing someone when they're part of your team and if anything happened to him, he would hope she (Simmons) would be in his corner.  I just felt that was a strange moment between them that might make a little more sense if they are speaking to each other as Hydra agents.  So now, I'm thinking it's interesting that they both have a reason to get off the Bus and stay at the Hub.

My personal Hope…. Fitz is the Hydra Agent.  The only reason I think there's a chance is because of Agent May.  She is a very controlled person and wouldn't shoot someone, night-night rounds or not, unless she felt they were a threat.  I'm thinking she knew Fitz was Hydra and as soon as he pulled the plug on her secret phone line she knew she needed to take him out.  Thats why, when she tried to shoot him, she went straight for his head and chest.  She wanted to be lethal.  I'm thinking that's why when Coulson mentions the encrypted line in the cockpit she glares at Fitz, not because he found it, but because she can't say anything in front of him.

The last big thing I pulled out of this episode was the Clairvoyant reveal.  I felt from the get go that it was way too easy for them to just find the Clairvoyant all gift wrapped.  I'm sure…no…positive that the Clairvoyant knew what they were up too and decided to have Deathlok take Nash too the race track, so SHIELD would think they found the Clairvoyant.  I mean, the Clairvoyant even said that if they killed him he would still be there watching…. foreshadowing??  I'm thinking Zola is the Clairvoyant, but I may be wrong.  I'm sure it's not someone simple, like Agent Hand.
